Call For Donations to Sichuan Earthquake Disaster on 05/12/08

Update: Many alumni have made donations through company matchings and various charity organizations. Our alum Duan Yongping has made one of the largest personal donations $3M to this tragic event (total $4M from BuBuGao so far).  Neverthelss, everybody's involvement is more important to show your care, and any amount would be appreciated by people at Sichuan. Here is a slideshow  and youtube video you can use to show your colleagues for donations. Dear Alumni, one of the worst earthquakes in decades struck central China Sichuan yesterday on 5/12/08.There were tens of thousands people injured or lost their lives and left behind countless broken hearts.

Zheda Alumni Network is calling for donations to the 5/12 China Earthquake Relief 2008 fund, currently a best thing to do for us to help victims to overcome this deadly disaster. We are glad that many alumni already asked us about how to donate!

Since we are not granted as a 501(c) (non-profit) organization yet, we will work with UCAA to donate through American Red Cross.  There are two good reasons to go though American Red Cross,

• Our donations will be treated as "International Relief Fund" that are designated to China's Earthquake Relief;
• There are many companies in US that will match the donations to pre-approved list of 501(c) organizations. American Red Cross is on top of the lists.Therefore going with American Red Cross may doubled your donations for this relief.

Here are the steps for sending donations to this fund.

• Fill the attached form with a check payable to "American Red Cross" with "5/12 China Earthquake Relief 2008" at memo and send it to the UCAA treasurer:

• UCAA will forward all donation forms and checks to American Red Cross after sorting the donations by schools;
• American Red Cross will send individual tax-deductible receipt directly to you with their Tax ID;
• You bring a copy of receipt to your company to get matching donation for the China Earthquake Relief.

Zheda Alumni Network will get a donation summary from UCAA about our total amount of donations. 

Please entend your help by giving donations to Sichuan's earthquake victims to help them overcome the disaster and rise again from rubbles! They need our help!
