Embedded Systems Engineer
Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (ETEC) is currently looking for an engineer with experience in embedded systems and electronics who will participate in product- and project-based software and systems development with our Chinese joint venture partner. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English—particularly with technical concepts—is a must. Candidates will demonstrate an ability to participate in technical R&D projects and product development efforts including design, test, certification and manufacturing. Candidates possessing some or all of these skills should apply.
Candidates will enjoy working in a small company environment and will be willing to participate in all areas of the Company’s business at all levels. Candidates will be self-starters, comfortable working with little supervision, will be capable of providing their own direction and will excel at learning new skills and technologies.
Embedded Systems Engineer
- Responsible for providing the technical interface between eTec’s Phoenix-based engineering group and the Beijing-based engineering team
- Responsible for developing design specifications based on requirements provided by the joint venture team
- Participate with the joint venture team to develop project proposals related to China-based electric vehicle and infrastructure demonstrations
- Participate in design and development of embedded systems and software for battery charging and related systems
- Technical liaison to Chinese manufacturers for products to be used in Chinese and US markets
- Participate in software/controls/IO development for one-off R&D projects
- Responsible for prototype testing and certification (UL, CSA,TÜV,CE) for components manufactured in China
- Responsible for documenting existing and newly-developed hardware and software including manuals, schematics, drawings, flow charts, etc.
Required skills for Embedded Systems Engineering Position:
- Must have a BS/MS Electrical, Electronics and/or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- Must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese including electrical engineering and technical terminology
- Embedded C programming skills—3-5 years
- Experience with various communication protocols (CAN,Modbus, RS232, RS485)—1-3 years
- Project management—2-5 years
- Technical writing skills (manuals, reports, proposals)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Knowledge and use of, electrical hand tools
- Must be able to work in a matrix-type environment
- Ability to travel (<10%)
- Must be a U.S. citizen or possess a current work visa
Salary Range:
$60,000 - $75,000 commensurate with skills and experience
